Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will work as part of the General Ledger team to support the organization’s business objectives by analyzing general ledger accounts and preparing standard journal entries; and by preparing monthly financial statements and schedules.The Senior Accountant will work as part of the General Ledger team to support the organization’s business objectives by analyzing general ledger accounts and preparing standard journal entries; and by preparing monthly financial statements and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and reconcile asset and liability accounts on a monthly basis
  • Prepare routine and as needed journal entries
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Ensure company adheres to SOX rules
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with cash forecasting and cash flow statements
  • Assist with external audits to ensure compliance
  • Assist with tax reporting and analysis to ensure compliance with federal, state, sales and use taxes, property taxes and other tax filings as needed
  • Recommend management actions or alternatives that can be taken when accounting data disclose unfavorable trends, situations, or deviations
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Assists in preparing budgets and forecasts with appropriate supporting assumptions and documentation. Embrace the abilities of the Hyperion budgeting software.
  • Provide analytical support to other departments as needed
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice
  • Prepare special financial reports as required by management by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Implement best practices and identify opportunities for automation

  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial
  • Complete specials projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

Education

Bachelor's Level Degree in Accounting or Preferred

Experience

  • CPA preferred
  • 4-7 years’ experience, GAAP, Public Accounting Experience a plus
  • Proven Senior Accounting experience
  • Proven knowledge of MS Office products; PeopleSoft experience a plus
