Position Summary

The Assistant Corporate Counsel reports directly to Oxford’s Vice President of Legal, Europe. The successful candidate will support Oxford’s Belgian affiliate from our Cork, Ireland Shared Services Centre. Key business objectives include providing legal counsel and contract negotiation services to Oxford and its related entities. Particular focus will be on contract review and negotiation for business within Belgium.

Requirements

  • Law Degree/Legal professional training.
  • Preference given to solicitors or in-house lawyers who have worked in a corporate legal setting or specifically in consultancy, staffing and recruitment.
  • Flemish/Dutch native language skills are a key requirement for this position together with fluency in English.
  • Suitable candidates should have an ability to work on a number of tasks simultaneously together with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review, negotiate and redline of client-based and contractor-based agreements.
  • Negotiate modifications to contracts and draft responses as needed.  Advise management when necessary. Address local Belgian employment-related issues and claims.
  •  Review and approve proposed line-item exceptions to Oxford’s standard client, contractor and staff agreements. 
  • Prepare necessary supplemental agreements including confidentiality and non-compete agreements to protect Oxford’s interests.

IT Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams. Contract revisions are carried out using “redline” format editing in Microsoft Word.
